mnemonic coverMnemonic invites us on an exhilarating journey through the atmosphere with Knut Bjørnar Asphol. He combines the influences of nordic jazz and ambient landscapes, creating powerful themes and meditative moments. Contrasting sound shapes and textures are created with the use of guitar, lap steel, and sampling acts. An album ultimately resulting in a new aural concept - where soundtrack influenced themes meet electronic jazz, and ambient subway sounds culminate into organic beats.

Knut Bjørnar Asphol draws influence from a plethora of artists such as Nils Petter Molvaer, Bugge Wesseltoft, Terje Rypdal and Eivind Aarset, to delve further into the historically rich Scandinavian playground of great jazz, ambiance, and electronica. "Mnemonic" is graced with a plentitude of brilliant contemporary performers such as Torstein Lofthus, Audun Erlien, Lewi Bergrud, and Magnus Westgaard. A particularly inspiring musical moment is actualized with the participation of world-class trumpeter Arve Henriksen in "Spaces". With abounding experience as a producer, musician, and composer, Asphol has been working with numerous and major artists within a variety of musical genres. Releasing his first album "Organic Ocean" in 2008 as the soundtrack to the documentary film "Tikopia", he as since participated in over 200 albums as a musician, producer, composer, and/or mastering engineer.
